After their season seemed to be finished, they hired their interim manager Thomson. Out of nowhere they went on a 10 game win streak and were right back in the playoffs. Eventually they made the playoffs, breaking an 11 year drought. In the end, they would make it to the world series but lose. Even though they lost, it was a very successful season, that is why Thomason was signed to a 2 year extension to continue being the manager of the team.
